ProActive Communications is a full-service public
affairs and strategic communications company based in the Dulles
Technology Corridor of the Washington, D.C.
metropolitan area with additional offices in New York. Since
our founding in 1996, ProActive has been serving the
needs of major business and trade
organizations as the “innovator in communications strategies.”
After several years of working in presidential
campaigns, and in public affairs both domestically and
internationally, ProActive founder Mark Serrano determined that he
could offer clients public affairs services that were more
impactful, more effective, and with more verifiable results than
traditional firms offer.
Therefore, since 1996, ProActive has designed and
implemented public affairs programs for companies, trade
associations, and non-profit organizations to assist them in solving
business and public policy challenges through established principles
of leadership and innovative communications strategies. We
deliver impact through our exceptional services in the areas of
public affairs, government affairs, public and media relations, and
multimedia applications.
ProActive leads public affairs programs which
impact policy development, including legislation, regulations, and
the related processes at all levels of government.
We also design and implement branding and identity campaigns,
media relations programs, and many other initiatives that support
our clients’ organizational success.
We operate programs across the entire country or
in local communities, depending on the strategic business and policy
objectives of our clients. We
also turn to our nationwide network of public affairs affiliates,
independent contractors and consulting firms in all 50 states, when
the strategic mission calls for local and state implementation of
our expert public affairs and communications strategies.
Whether you need to promote your organization’s
position on a piece of legislation, generate earned media to raise
your organization’s profile in a community where you do business,
promote your products or services to targeted audiences, or
communicate video messages to employees or shareholders worldwide –
for leadership, impact, and results…Get ProActive!
Leadership is the ability to merge
commitment and wisdom into a single vision to succeed, and using
this vision in motivating one’s colleagues and teammates to share in
the mission that unites them.
Starting out in 1996 with just a single computer,
a telephone, and a lot of big ideas for the world of public affairs,
founder Mark Serrano has built an established full-service public
affairs and strategic communications business with a cracker jack
team of professionals who fulfill our company mission from across a
spectrum of disciplines.
The one unified trait among ProActive team
members is leadership. This is the trait that is required to
motivate businesses and citizens to take action on policy and
political issues in which they have an important stake. It is
required to garner attention from the news media when we have
important information to impart to news consumers and the general
public.
Leadership is necessary at all levels of an
organization to fulfill a mission, especially when the road to
victory is charted on an uphill course. It is perhaps the most
important requirement of all ProActive team members in our quest to
fulfill client goals and missions.
This dedication to professional leadership principles began
with the founding of ProActive itself, setting it apart from other
public affairs businesses.
ProActive manages nationwide media relations
tours, issues advocacy campaigns, and other public affairs programs
under the management of company president Mark Serrano.
Dedicated to the highest
standards of client service, Serrano leads the growing ProActive
team with an innovative and industrious approach that is unique in
the public affairs field today.
Mark
Serrano has enjoyed a 25 year career in leadership
roles in presidential campaigns, public policy issues campaigns,
international public affairs and other public relations programs.
Serrano has extensive public policy issues experience in key areas
such as consumer products, food, international trade, liability
reform, trucking, highway safety, energy, auto and transportation,
taxes, insurance, as well as other fields of commerce and industry.
In 2007, Mark Serrano founded another major
business venture when he launched a company called voped (www.voped.com).
voped is an Internet start-up delivering online video
platform solutions to an exploding marketplace in search of methods
to convert, store, catalogue, monetize, and publish video content
online. The voped video
platform, management system, pay-per-view and other cutting-edge
functions offer the greatest value in the marketplace in this
burgeoning new, online video platform business.
In 2010, Serrano and the ProActive team launched
its new ProBlog to opine about trends and developments in the public
affairs business (http://www.getproactive.us/blog).
Serrano is also a recognized national advocate
for childhood sexual abuse victims and sex abuse prevention, and
serves as a national spokesman and former board member for a
501(c)(3) organization (www.snapnetwork.org)
dedicated to supporting victims of childhood sexual abuse.
He is a published opinion-editorial writer in
many national newspapers including USA Today, The Washington Post,
The Washington Times, The Dallas Morning News, The Star-Ledger of
Newark, N.J., Washington, D.C.’s The Hill Newspaper, and others, and
has conducted news interviews on all of the major broadcast and
cable television and radio networks nationwide, as well as many
international broadcasters.
